A colleague passed away very suddenly last week,he didn’t have a Thai Will, some thing he was always talking about but never got round too it, tbh he appeared to be in good health, he owned a Studio Apartment which he said he would leave to his Thai partner not married of 20 years.
He has a U.K. daughter and son, they won’t be coming here, they hadn’t been in contact for years, they said his Thai partner can have the Studio Apt. The Tabien Baan has no ownership name in it but there were documentation in the Apt when he bought the property.
He had only a few thousand baht here not enough to cover the funeral costs, he is currently in Bangkok undergoing a post mortem, his Thai partner wants him bringing back to Pattaya for a proper cremation albeit she says she has no money although she has family who I am sure would help
for the cremation.
His daughter has documents to complete so as and when his body is released decisions can be made about his cremation, she was advised by The Embassy don’t send money to people here as you don’t know them.
A bit long winded, the moral is get a Thai Will made, you just don’t know what’s round the corner, now it’s big mess leaving his affairs to be sorted here and in the U.K., in fact I don’t think he made a U.K. Will either.
